Movable Type is still the best, alas not that cheap.
Wordpress is the free, open source alternative and quite good.

They have very similar features. And similar problems, such as comment spam and trackback spam. MT is scalable on number of blogs and authors (1/1 is free, then licence according to blogs/users). WP only allows for running one blog (but there is a hack for multiple blogs).
Oh, MT is Perl, WP is php.

I'm trying the WordPress module with Xoops. It's looking very interesting. Xoops is pretty cool

Hi,

I like WordPress also. Very easy install. Great feature set, like photos, sub-categories. Also has a simple hack (replace 1 file) to add a simple WYSIWYG editor.
