In your opinion, which server would provide better performance as a MySQL server?

single CPU 1000MHz AMD
dual CPU 600MHz Intel

I'm not sure this is a great guide but I saw some test results showing that an AMD Duron took 100 seconds less to encode and MPEG-4 video than PIII...so I'd go with the AMD....they are definitely better imo.

I have an AMD pc and an AMD server.

well I know that MS SQL server works best with dual cpu`s as it has multi threading capabilities whatever that is, dunno if its the same with MySQL though.

The dual will be able to handle more requests in parallel, but the single will be able to answer a single query faster. Depends on your needs . We now offer dual 1.2's on our dedicated hosting -- outperforms dual xeon 2.2s on database work:
