And I do have to say also that I do love the look of the new Mac os X. Very sexy. We've got two machines running a copy here. It's such a shame that Macs are relatively expensive. I suppose it's all to do with supply and demand, but I would love to own one of those new G4s running os X. Time to start saving I think.

Im trying to force my dad to buy mine from me because I've seen such a cool deal:

1.7ghz
512MB RAM
80GB HD
64MB Video Card
19" Monitor
WinXP

...for about $1350

I'm trying to justify paying about half of that for more-or-less the same system Wink. I probably won't get around to it until after Christmas though...

No, computers are very cheap in Canada. I have relatives in the uk who cry when they price compare. =)

Have a look at:

http://www.a-power.com/
http://www.atic.ca

two places we shop from, and remember these are canadian dollars (currently 1 Canadian dollar = .62 us, or .43 pounds). =) Oh, by the way, these places are not the place to go for good customer service. ;) You need to know what you want, and not expect advice/help.

Cheers,

Alex

Do you know if the power supply would be suitable for the UK?

Or will there be any other problems buying from abroad?

Thanks for the links btw.

Hey Alex:

Great links, thanks! I wish I had known before I purchased my current system (P4 1.5GHz). In the next week, I'm going to rush over, and pick up a ZIP drive, extra memory (256MB SDRAM too little - looking to 512MB or even 1GB), and some other goodies.

That and the major tweaking of our server hardware, Christmas comes early this year Smile

This is probably not the cheapest available but a 1.6ghz PIV is about £900 ($1200-$1300 USD) inc VAT, but that is a complete pc with modem, ram, tower, monitor etc...

Seems like you can only build your own desktop systems. Am I the only person that wants to build my own laptop??

No...what is it?

Don't you build desktops, not laptops?

That's the whole point of the question! Isn't there some place where you can buy parts/kits and put laptops together yourself? Finding parts for desktops is easy.

Oooo sorry, I misread the post.

I thought you'd confused laptop with desktop.
