Not the way I type - I have to use my right hand to hit Backspace ;)

Besides, what about 'devertebrated'?

Quote:
... lollipop with your right.
What about 'polyphony,' 'monophony,' and 'polyonomy'? They're longer. 'monopoly' is just as long.

Quote:
24. There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order: abstemious and facetious.
What about 'annelidous'?

Quote:
17. TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard.
'repertoire,' 'proprietor,' 'prerequire,' 'perpetuity,' are also ten letters, which means it isn't _the_ longest. If you count 'rupturewort', it isn't even one of the longest.

25. There is a word in the English language with only one vowel, which occurs five times: indivisibility.
There's more than one: abracadabra, deepfreeze, prereference, and even one (albeit debatable) with six: degenerescence.

32. The only 15-letter word that can be spelled without repeating is uncopyrightable.
There's another: 'dermatoglyphics'

devertebrated

What does that mean?....there's no such word in my dictionary. Are you sure you don't mean invertebrate?

My dictionary goes from "development area" to "deviant"

Quote:

Polyonomy doesn't exist either. It jumps from "polynya" to "polyp". Nor does "monophony", it goes from "monophonic" to "monophthong"

Quote:
What about 'annelidous'?

Not sure where you are getting your words from but this doesn't exist either Smile...goes from "annelidan" to "annex"

Quote:
deepfreeze

It's "deep-freeze" but I won't be picky =)

Quote:
prereference

No such word again - goes from "pre-record" to "prerequisite" Laugh

You just need an unabridged dictionary, like the internet! Smile

Polyonomy - n. [Cf. Gr. a multitude of names.] The use of a variety of names for the same object. G. S. Faber.[/i] (Webster 1913)

Monophony - n. A style of composition having a single melodic line. (American Heritage 2000) [/i][/i][/b]

Annelidous - a. (Zoöl.) Of the nature of an annelid. Segmented worms make up the Phylum Annelida. (Webster 1913)

Couldn't find 'devertebrated' and 'prereference' seems to just be some bureaucratic nightmare word.

Strange, I guess there are 2 possible scenario's.

1) My Oxford English dictionary is outdated.
2) They are American words.

I wouldn't worry, not like they'll slip into casual conversation.
