I found this on the cbc website, I thought it was Air Canada as well, but it appears people are pointing their fingers at more than just them.

It's a tough time to be in travel right now! My girlfriend's mom bought a air ticket to go <400km by plane and the price of the ticket was a reasonable 43$. BUT, after the new terrorism air tax and airport fees, it became almost 80$.

Yes. Not only are the taxes becoming obscene, the travel inconviences now take the pleasure of the expereince of traveling by air.

I used to be a commercial pilot in Australia (and the mid east for that matter), and I have noticed first hand the difference. I would not want to be crew any more either... I can't imagine the impact on the whole tour of duty since 9/11.

I have'nt flown out of YVR since last year (I was a controller at Langley tower for a while), but I can imagine it is a mess of line ups etc these days. I am so glad to be out of the aviation business.

My mom is also about to board an Air Canada flight to the UK via YVR and YYZ.
