Spam rant, any suggestions?

Spam rant, any suggestions?
Jeeze, this morning and every morning for over a week now I get over 200 bounced emails. Seems a spammer for some reason is using my domain as the reply to address in their porn spam and to top it off I`m now receiving angry emails from the receivers of these spams.

My domain is a respectable online business and this sort of thing really makes me mad, if I could get my hands on the tossers who are doing it I`d knock their heads off and ram their computers up their *?/%..

Anyone got any ideas as to why they do that with the reply to, or dealt with this kind of thing before. Every avenue I try to find who they are or contact an admin is a dead end.

Can this lead to my genuine emails being blocked by ISP`s?

These guys are turning email into a farce, its such a shame that a useful thing like email can be hijacked in such a way. I once read that over time any useful freely available tool will be hijacked and renderred useless by an ever increasing number of spoilers, what a shame..

To annoy people, to stop themselves receiving all the bounces and to stop them being traced easily.

It's a tough situation to be in as it's not like you can apply bans or something as your email will be in the reply-to address as long as the spammer keeps using it.

Only thing I can think of is set up an auto-responder for that address letting people know the address is being used by spammers and that it's nothing to do with you.

But why not use some obscure non existing domain as the reply to, why use an existing domain, I just don`t get it, perhaps your right about it being to annoy people, I just get paranoid and think someones trying to harm my business.

Creeps, all of `em..

cheers Paul.

PS I just read that the bbc.co.uk domain gets hammered hard by this, at least I`m in good company Tongue

I've been getting slammed by somebody using "abcnews.com" lately.

They also munged the URLs in the body of the e-mail. That's the first time I'd seen that but found a site that would translate for me.

Fortunately I haven't experienced what you have, but I fear it.

You are basically screwed. And yes you'll get black listed because someone stuck your domain name in the return address. The only thing you can do is delete that particular email account and turn off any kind of catch-all. This will result in the emails "bouncing" but at least you won't get them.

Case in point. I deleted my main email account because of getting bombarded with spam. (I made the mistake of posting my email address in a message forum once - not unlike this one). Yesterday I reactivated the account after being dormant for several months and in 24 hours I got 50+ emails that were all spam, except for the one email I was expecting. So... I've deleted the account again and have come to accept the fact that I'll never be able to use it again.Frown

Good Luck!

Why not just use some sort of Spam filtering? I'm getting good results with Razor and SpamAssasin at the moment
