Really odd question!
This will surely be the most odd question posed in this forum I am sure...

What percentage of the people you know personally have fruit bearing trees or bushes?

I told you it was a strange one!Crazy

Would you consider that to be the norm in the UK Paul?

I think so, unless God hid all the pineapple trees from me.

The climate isn't warm enough for things like orange/lemon trees....although we do have things like strawberry/raspberry, blackcurrent bushes.

I have a cherry tree in the front yard, I forgot about that one.

We also don't have the tropical type of trees here (bannanas and oragnes, mangos)... but yes... I have the bushes also... blueberry is going well.

I think the main crop here would have the be the marajuana tree to be honest.

My dad has a plum, cherry and apple tree in his backyard... along with a full garden of vegetables and other peculiarities (I'm a programmer, my four food groups are, beer, pop, burgers and fries)

My dad who lived in Tempe, Arizona before he died had orange trees.

But no one close to where I live at 9,300 ft. in the Rocky Mts. have any "fruit bearing trees or bushes".

Let's see, I live in an area of orchards, so peaches, apples, plums, grapes, rasberries, strawberries, not as many types as say Willamette sp? valley in Oregon, but not to bad.

We just cut a bunch of trees to plant some apples this fall.

We still have roadside fruit stands and a Farmer's Market.

Programmers need sunshine as well!
