I would say the pictures are real, but this is a war and people die in a war and that unfortunately includes women and children. Thats the reality of war.
If some one shoots you in the face with an assault rifle or drops a 1000lb bomb on your head then you are going to end up in a bit of a mess.
Thank god where not seeing ww2 style warefare where whole cities were carpet bombed, Hamburg comes to mind.
I'm sure you will see a lot more of those kind of pictures in the coming weeks, the real fighting is yet to come.
