Navicat a MySql tool
Hello has any one tried Navicat a database tool for MySql from http://www.mysqlstudio.com/ ?

They have a 30 day demo for windows and mac osx.

I found it fast on a 127.0.0.1 connection [ win 98 ] but I did not like the modal results windows for tables

and queries. There were 2 places also to remove query limits that was a little hidden.

Not a bad tool though overall.

Has many exports to file types also.

Thanks

Hello Stealth,

You maybe right on a thread change but I was just interested in comments

about the Navicat program quality vs the Sql side as a whole.

Thanks for the comment.

I am right...it is a database topic and thus should be in that forum..and to be on "topic", I haven't heard of it, but since I'll give it a shot one of these days.

bye.

The chit-chat forum doesn't have a topic so that means it is on topic :)

Well, this "thread" does, indeed, have a topic within by its title and content, I am just recommending that people more carefully consider where they post "discussion" items in the forums, that's all, and I have a right to post my opinion, which in this case, is accurate and logical.

Yep, of course you can give an opinion, I was just making a joke :)

Obviously I can't speak for kode but I don't think he didn't think carefully about where he posted, perhaps he thought the chit-chat forum had higher traffic or something like that and as it is only a chit-chat forum then it's not too much of a problem I guess.

I would assume chit-chat means chit-chat... inlcuding chit chat about anything which falls under the guidelines.

I could talk about MySQL or War in IRAQ, how people just love to stir up trouble on forums, and Navicat software Wink

Don't critize someone for posting in the safest forum to post on when unsure of where to post.

I wasn't critizing, but pointing out a fact. How about taking your own advice?

Let me point out a fact then: you like to stir up trouble for no apparent reason. I have just read you doing so in two threds since I logged in a few minutes ago.

Stop lashing out at others, or looking for nit picky issues which cloud the real point of the thread, in this case Navicat.

Ok if I dare get back to the original topic :) ....I just installed it. It seems quite nice actually. It will take some time to get used to after using mysqlman for so long but it has some useful features.

Dear ALL, I, Kode, the stupid , posted this to Chit Chat because GT has MySqlman

as a per profit sale.

I was just interested in finding out if any one who used

this forum had used Navicat and what they thought of the software.

I did not believe this was an SQL question because this is a do you like this program and

not a how to write a query or connect to a database nor is it an error message question.

It is just another Tool for mysql.

Thanks

Take your own advice, Ian, and stop trying to be the forum god moderator...I am posting my opinions, you post yours. I don't lash, but I do defend when people post infuriating remarks, like you have a high tendancy to do.

But it does relate to a "database" management tool, which is appropriate to "DATABASES", IMO...and I do believe that there are some guidelines related to posting competing links in the forums, which I did not bring up earlier.

I am just posting my opinions, and if the makes me God Angelic then so be it.

Anyways, enough clutter in this thread.

I have started a posting war vs a what do you think of this software

Can I ask the moderator to make a judgement and move this or not move this.

Just so the question origionally asked is answered.

I really don't mind where.

Thanks

Kode

Do you like Navicat ? or comments ?

As am I, and since you don't have PM turned on, I couldn't and can't contact you about what you consider to be clutter, anyway, back to the original topic at hand...

I'm not a moderator (no-one is for this forum except staff) but my thoughts are posted above. Essentially your thread can't be off topic in a chit-chat forum.

As the product does relate to SQL then yes, it could be said that you _could_ have posted in the SQL forum but it really doesn't matter.

You'd think you'd done something outrageous by the tone of the past posts :)

Slap on the wrist for you kode!

Hello Paul, I basically just found Navicat by accident and was just wondering what

people like you would think of it. The wrong area stuff is bollocks !

I am writing a Delphi [Borland] program myself for my own use

for MySql and that is when I met Navicat on a google search.

I was and am still interested in how people like or do not like the

Navicat program interface and user input.

thanks
