How the heck do you turn off the Voice Recognition thing in XP. It's driving me crazy!

What is it?

Apparently, it comes with some MS Office progs. It allows your system to be run by voice commands, rather than keystrokes (almost). It has to learn your voice to enter the right info.

The problem is that it interprets all kinds of sounds for seemingly totally random things, like opening tabs and such.

And, on top of it all, there is no clear "Turn Off Speech Recognition" button anywhere (so far as I have found).

I know that speech recognition is very important for some users, but I'd like to have the option of shutting it off if I want to.

I hope I have explained it a bit better.

Oh, I have Via Voice which sounds like the same kind of thing.

No prob. MS has included this, and it's a bit murky to figure out, but I think I have it sort of disabled now. I'll keep fooling with it.

Open the Regional and Language Options tool in Control Panel.
On the Languages tab, click Details under Text services and input languages.
Under Installed services, click Speech Recognition, and then click Remove.
Click OK to apply all the changes. You may need to restart your computer.
