Favo(u)r please!
I'm having trouble seeing one of my domains whilst other people can and I was hoping to have a few people from different countries to test it out.

I've had someone in the US and Japan try it out and they see the correct page, yet I see the old site.

The dns changes were made using my own dns server which updates immediately so propogation may not be the issue.

http://www.wiredon.net

...if you see a cheesy joke you are at the right page!

Thanks for your help!

It looks like your secondary NS (NS2.DESKSQL.COM 207.230.62.136) isn't running properly.

Ok I have to admit I don't know what I did but I've just had a major investigation in the dns files and now it seems to be working and I see the correct page Angelic

Well if you are a perfectionist like me then I guess you could consider the "normal page" to be a cheesy joke too :)

Ugh it needs a makeover.

Ah. Did you know that there was a sqldesk.com out there? Ugh, that could be ugly. Or did you register that one too? Here's your info.

Infact you might want to secure that up pretty quick as your username/password are easily accessible via the web.

Um. You do know that running password cracking software is illegal? I have every right to inform the authorities of a breaking attempt on my system, and I have all the logs needs to prove it. Marvellous. I'm sure JANET administrators will love to hear about this. Thanks, Paul. You've just made my day.

Yeah I do but who mentioned software?.......all I had to do was go into your cgi-bin and find your passwd file as all directories gave a listing.

....and then I informed you to secure it up, so infact I did you a favor.

Aha. I see where you got my password from. My fault for using the same password for the intranet login web panel as my password for the system. That's now changed.

I could still get you charged for that, though. Hm, I'll stew on the idea over lunch. ;-)

My knees are quaking.

Theres nothing to charge me on....you left all your login information in public view, and I checked that is was a security risk (which it was) and informed you.

Would you have preferred me to find all your password information (available to anyone who happened to pass by your site) and then keep it a secret?....i don't think so.

No. That's a dev server, there was an unencrypted password file there containing one password that was used to access a web portal that I was testing. Unfortunately, I used the same password for my login information for that machine - you had guessed this and used this information to break into the machine. Which is illegal.

However, the food in Witherspoons was good, so I'll let you off the hook. ;-)

Using an accessible username/password to test whether I can login is not quite the same a breaking in with intent.

Anyway, whatever, Im going to finish my new WiredON design...

Yes it is illegal as you were not authorised to access the system.

I didn't intend to access the system. I was verifying whether the username/password being viewable was a security risk and if so, warn you about it, which is what I did.

I shouldn't have bothered telling you about it and let you get properly hacked.

Thats appreciation for ya.
