Business Plan
Hi

Has anyone got any experience of writing business plans? Anyone got any good bookmarks, software or books that you have used to develop your own business plan?

Thanks for any pointers you can give me.

Cheers

Hm. The Welsh Assembly website is absolutely useless if you're trying to find specific information. Their search function is hopeless and the site badly organised. The UK Goverment website on the other hand has proved very useful.

Have you search google.com? Using this link it came up with some sites that have both information and examples:

This site looks informative with many examples:

Thanks for the link. Tried that one. Looks good on the surface, but when you dig deeeper it's basically a front end to some packaged software which you need to buy before you can unlock the website.

Did you check out their samples? I checked out a few just to see if it would provide you with good information. I did have many samples with complete sections included that could be modified for anyone application.

Will,

I'm thrilled here. I get to answer a question instead of asking one. I've done a bunch of business & marketing plans. That site is a good start. I also found the s/w Business Plan Pro to be pretty good. A little wordy but overall pretty good.

They come out with new versions all of the time, but in reality nothing changes. You can find an older version a lot of places.

If you need specific info or questions, email me.

Thank you, Howard! I might drop you a line. This has actually been put back now until June, but I've got this thread on my 'Watch list'.

Cheers

Don't know if they have something like this in the UK, but when I was in college we had to submit business plans (get funding, etc) as part of a class. Anyway, I used a book called "Starting & Operating a Business in Texas" (in the US they make them for all 50 states). It was really cool because it walked you through the process and came with all of the forms necessary to file with local/state offices.

This was pre WWW days. Anyway, you might want to check around and see if you can find something like it.

Business plans are essentially really easy to write, but trying to explain how over the Internet is another matter Frown
