Ugh. I would not give up my cable modem in a million years.

Yeah, it's a crap article. It was just my first post. I wanted to see how the Slashdot system worked. I posted that at 15:00 GMT. It appeared a few hours later (but the article isn't time critical).

It was just a test more than anything to see how the system works. Quite efficently so, I may add...

Yeah I just wondered how long ago it was posted to see how long it took to be validated.

I'd say that one took around 5 hours to be validated.

It wasn't a time-sensitive article however, so they may have bundled it to the back of the queue.

Hmm I may try my luck lol

Just got to think of something worth posting.

Do you think they'd accept rumours made up by me :) ...like "Microsoft to reveal their source code"...lol

They do! Well... They do have to try and verify their information.

A hilarious article sliped through tht net a long time ago was one stating that Rob, the author of Slashcode, that his house had burned down and it was on the news and there was fire trucks everywhere.

One of the other moderators approved the post, for some reason? joke? mistake? who knows. quite amusing though. read the FAQ, i think the article is still archived.

How long do the posts stay up for if accepted?

I'd probably miss my post if it ever got accepted.

LOL someone on my wavelength:

I can understand how someone could choose between, say, food or broadband. But So long as I have 50 bucks left over after the car and house are paid for, my ass ain't digging that goddamn modem out of the closet.

LOL. Yep, I agree with you. That article was lame and just a test. Heck, it got through CNet's editors! Which doesn't say much about CNet!

I think the article stays on for quite a while. They roll through the system. Get archived, and then bump off when they need room for new threads. I think?

You've gotta love the slashdot polls. This made me giggle:

My clothes smell like:

1) Angelina Jolie
2) Chinese sweatshop laborers
3) Pepperoni
4) Snuggles the Fabric Softener Bear
5) StinkyMeat
6) That homeless guy on the subway
7) Fresh and clean as a whistle
8) Rolling Rock, or maybe it was
