Hence the following warning:
http://www.apache.org/...inaries/win32/#xpbug
It will be a while until a good stable release will be ready for XP I imagine. Why would you want to run a web server on anything other than Linux anyway? ;-)

Yes, sorry. Woody is the codename for the latest release. Potato was the latest version?
For the latest software, you're right - you'll have to go for another dev version. The standard release will haev Apache 1.x bundled in due to the fact that they are trying to release a very stable build and they haven't had time to thoroughly test Apache 2 yet. Woody has been running on some commercial servers since Jan 2001 now, so I think that's a good indication of it's stability, so many argue the latest dev versions are more stable than other dists - so you can get a copy with all the latest gizmos, it's just not fully endorsed by Debian.

This has got to be the best example of the beauty of open source programming I've seen in a long while :-)
*) connection.c: changed ++j to j++ in an attempt to fix a bug in mod_rewrite [Brian Pane]
*) connection.c: changed ++i to ++j in honor of myself [Joe Orton]
*) connection.c: fuck you guys, ++i is better [Justin Erenkrantz]
*) connection.c: changed i += 1 to i++ for better performance [Graham Leggett]
*) connection.c: changed i = i + 1 to i += 1 [Ian Holsman]
