I've set-up gossamer mail to use a table I created to handle username/passwords. When I add a record into that table by using the Gossamer Mail signup form or the admin, the data gets entered to the table and everything works.

When I manually enter the username and password into the table (using mysql command line, or through a PHP script) gossamer mail does not see that user. It is not listed in the admin, and the user cannot log in. Why?
