Its a bit of a hard one to do :/
Really - the best way to approach it - is to "move" the link into another table... so its totally out of the Links table.
The reason I'm saying this, is because even if you stop it showing int he validation queue, you're still gonna have the link being "counted" on the actual category counts - which would throw the users off (i.e if you have 2 hidden, and 6 in a category - it would show 8 on the category count, but only 6 would show up).
