Deleting part of backup ?

Hi,

Due to the fact that a lot of diskspace is used in the CGI-bin where I keep my links I have the following question. Is it okay to delete all DB-files that's in the backup file, except for the latest DB-files of email, links and category?

I hope so. According to the company where I have my site hosted, the biggest part of the 39 MB ofg my account in cgi-bin/portal (the links folder).
