Gossamer Forum doesn't automatically look for URL's and e-mail addresses in posts. However, if using the advanced editor, as soon as you put something that it thinks is a URL or an e-mail address, it will automatically link it for you - however it is still possible to remove the link by hitting backspace at the end of the link, or by selecting the link, hitting the link button (or Ctrl-K), and clearing the URL.
The problem is that if it automatically tried to check for links, it would make it impossible to _not_ link a URL. Sometimes, when writing a post, I'll make a reference such as: http://your.website/path/to/gforum/gforum.cgi - but I don't want it to be linked, as in this post.
However, I can see that on some forums it would be useful, and so I'll add this to the version 2 list as an option.
