Does the Spider plugin not allow you to spider links into your existing categories?

If it only spiders into a seperate database, wouldn't it be a little more practical to blend the results of the main database and the spider into one set of results by most relevant? I notice that result sets from Google contain links without categories. I don't know if they are doing something similar.
