May be you are right.
But what does not get in my head is how can one produce a list of alternative names?
They have to be inserted as a default offer options. Like for e.g.
xx_yy or xx-yy or xxx1 or 1xxx etc
So the default values remain common for the offer. Hence the user needs to select first by a pop-up menu, and then this "Selection" may be then queried with the database, if available.
Users are UNIQUE and so inserting if not there should be any problem.
If unavailable, then all the unavailable Usernname options are purged and remaining to be presented.
If the programming is not there, then the error message can be produced to inform them that the user name is already taken, please choose anathor from the option.
