I had a suggestion on how the numbering of the backup takes place.

If the naming of alll the backup files also adds their version numbers, it would be easy to identify them as to what they are and when they were updates. For e.g. login.cgi.2.0.2.bak3!!! Hence one gets a set of versions with respect to their backups which otherwise is difficult to identify. I had problems.
