1. Yes, Gossamer Mail has been designed to be easily integrated into other sources. We plan to release Auth_.. plugins once it is released to integrate into other common software. I'm sure a vbulletin one will be done. Special characters will have to be addressed somehow.
2. We don't have anything like that right now, but are looking into what would be involved.
3. Yes, the auth system is designed so that if a user has a valid session (for instance is logged into vBulletin), then their account automatically gets created when they login into Gossamer Mail. This does mean that their email address will not be valid until after they have logged into Gossamer Mail.
