Can anyone tell me if they have successfully managed to make the user to login to the system before being able to add or modify a link?

I have been reading through this thread...

which describes what I'm after - but the way the thread ends I'm not sure whether it's working or not??

looks like it also gives the user a list of their links once they log in to modify them if I'm reading it right?

Does anyone know if there is an easy to read mod page that explains it?
