RE: Page bulder Root
I have just purchased the Page builder.. It is my intention to move all my existing pages that sit out side the Links SQL into the Dbase with the Page builder.. In this manner I do not have to redirect numerous pages just so they will be imbedded into the dbase.

I successfully changed the root so I could create a page exactly where I want it to sits.

The situation I am running into - those pages sit in sub categories and different areas of the server as well..

Example

/home/here/Food/R/Pies
/home/here/Food/R/Candy

How can I create numerous pb_root_path:

for all the areas I require?

I could not locate the option to create multiple select from the properties.

The program only allows for one root area?

Hi

the option 'pb_root_path' should be set to that directory in the hierarchy of your directories that contains all the directories where your pages should be built. In the example you gave, this could be one of the following (depending on other pages you may have):

1) /home/here
2) /home/here/Food
3) /home/here/Food/R

When defining a page, you give as 'Build Directory' the directory relative to the 'pb_root_directory'. Assuming you have option 1 above as the 'pb_root_path', then a page in the 'Pies' directory would have 'Build Directory'

Foot/R/Pies

For pages in other subdirectories, you just need to change 'Build Directory'.

I hope that helps.

I made an attempt to accomplish exactly what you are speaking of..

I have over 5,000 pages out side the root which I would prefer inside the dbase (sole purpose of buying the page builder).

I changed the root to complete a test page. Worked great built pages all well.

have a new location for a different page, created without a hitch... But trying to direct it to a different root is where it all went amiss.

Example:

1) /home/here
2) /home/somewhereelse/food
3) /home/jackfrack/ohhhya/forgotthisone/1
2) /data/home/anotherone/howto/r/eat/

That is why I was asking if there is a way to offer numerous roots and urls dependent on the page?

I guess all I need to know before I spend any more time on this. Is there a way to integrate all 5000+ pages into the dbase using this program Page Builder without losing there original Page position.

Example: I have an area called How To's Library which is heavily used. The major search engines have these page positions established, etc.... To move them into the dbase at present it will cause the pages to be moved to a different file /pages/ which would leave people trying to find the page.... Basically loosing me traffic (business)

Here is the category using Links SQL
http://www.ssan.com/pages/Home_Garden/How_To_s_Library/index.html

The pages appear to be in the database, yet they are actually created using <!--#exec cgi="/cgi-bin/directory/default/nheader/y-header.cgi" -->

I hope this makes better sense in what I am seeking. If this can not be accomplished would someone please let me know so I can return this product.

Thank you
