Overall, it looks great! Let me describe what I use Fileman 1.0 for. I provide an "edit" link on every web page, which links directly to fileman.cgi?action=edit&fn=<filename>&wd=<directory>.

Then the user edits the file and saves. With Beta 2, the frames are tripping me up. I cannot provide a simple link to edit a document because of the frame usage in the new version. I can link to just the center frame to edit, but I see "script error" at the bottom of the window and all the commands (the other frames) are missing.

I'd love to be able to force the other frames to appear when the middle frame is called by itself, if that's possible. Or maybe provide a version without the frames?

Also, I like being able to turn off features like commands and password protecting with the cmd_ variables, but it would be nice to not only unlink the item, but to disable the command as well. A few times after doing things (chmod maybe?) I get returned to a command execution form at the bottom when it completes. I never want to have access to the command feature.

Thanks for the feedback! I'm not sure how easy it would be to implement what you suggest. The frames are pretty integrated into the system. What we could do is make it so you could pass into fileman.cgi what you want to do (i.e. edit a file) and then it would open still into frames, but with the file in the editor window.

As for the commands, just to reassure you, even if you see the frame, you won't be able to execute a command. However we'll look at making sure you don't see that.

When I tried to load Fileman 2 Beta on a frame (Fileman B2's 3 frames inside my own frame), I ran into the same problem described by dbsanders. It would be great if the final version of Fileman 2 eliminate this prob.
