A Major Problem!

I cannot install Links 2.0.3 on my server at all. I have uploaded it (binary), gunzipped it using the following:-

gunzip < file.tar.gz | tar xvf -

It unpacks the install.cgi and install.dat and other files, however when I try to run install from either telnet or via http it does 'nothing' at all. I have checked the path to perl and fixed that.

Version 1.13 is running quite happily .... does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this?

Hi,

From shell type:

./install.cgi

What exactly do you see? If this doesn't work, try:

perl install.cgi

What do you see?

thanks for your reply.

When I type ./install.cgi
nothing occurs.

When I type perl install.cgi
nothing occurs.

By nothing ... I mean no activity appears to be occurring at all.

Do you get command prompt back with no output? Or it just sits there? Very strange. Can you send me telnet access so I can take a look?
