unrouteable mail domain

unrouteable mail domain
 I'm using Links 2.0. I try to send emails to link owners, and also the "What's New" newsletter, and I get the emails returns with the information:

Quote:
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its
recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

example_email_addy@aol.com
unrouteable mail domain "aol.com"

My info in links.cfg is:

Quote:

# PATH of sendmail. # SMTP Server (sanguinarius.org) [Note: db_mail_path= '/usr/sbin/sendmail' AND db_smtp_server= 'localhost' or 'smtp.swbell.yahoo.com']
$db_mail_path = ''; $db_smtp_server = 'localhost';

# Email address of the administrator. BE SURE TO SET!
$db_admin_email = 'Directory@sanguinarius.org';

I've tried it with $db_mail_path set to '/usr/sbin/sendmail' and with $db_smtp_server set to 'mail.sanguinarius.org' and with $db_smtp_server set to 'smtp.swbell.yahoo.com' (which is my email server for my ISP). When I used 'smtp.swbell.yahoo.com' nothing came back at all, but neither did I recieve anything to my "test" email address.

It's also not sending out Addition / Modification emails.

I should say generally speaking, because I THINK a FEW goth through, but 99% of the emails either bounced due to standard reasons like 550 - "no user/dead email addy" messages. One fellow replied to the email I sent out, so I know his got through for some reason only God knows. The rest I get back with the "unroutable mail domain" error.

Can somebody help me, please? I need to send out emails.

Use the script linked from this post:
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/...i?post=270095#270095

It should tell you what the correct path is.

Hi,

Is this on a UNIX machine?

If so, to find out where sendmail is located, try typing this into Telnet/SSH;

Quote:
whereis sendmail

It should give something like;

user@domain$ whereis sendmail
sendmail: /usr/bin/sendmail /usr/sbin/sendmail /usr/lib/sendmail

Hope that helps.

Cheers
