CGI Operation Time Out

CGI Operation Time Out
You see, my Links site has about 8500 listings in its database and half way through the build process, my browser will terminate the script stating that there was a "CGI operation time out".

I think the cause of this error may be because my database is just too large and there was too much idle time between the server and the browser.

Any ideas on how to stop this from happening?

John

I just figured it out.

You simply cannot stop the operation from timing out because the browser has a limitation of NO MORE then 2MBs when submitting a file to upload. If the file is too large, the operation will time-out.

So with that in mind, when you have more than 10,000 links in Links' database, you can expect Links will no longer be able to update or build the pages.

By chance, is your browser's cache set to 2mb? If so, what happens if you increase it?

Alex had a solution to this problem.

Go see the posting "Links has its Limitations" in Links Discussion forum.
