New ordering system on our site

Hi,

I finally decided to bite the bullet, and write a custom script for ordering plugins/services from our site. I've tested it all, and it all seems ok - but if you notice any issues with it, please let me know Smile

. We now take PayPal and 2Checkout (as well as the option of MoneyGram, for people who can't use CC/PayPal)

NB: The system is still manual, as I like the screen orders, before processing them (had too many bad incidents over the years)

What does this post achieve?....will people place orders simply to test out your new ordering system? w00t

Erm, don't you think my signature promotes my site enough over my 15k posts? If GT have a problem with this post, they can remove it :P

LOL nope - just more a heads up, in case people have problems with the system (so they can contact me if they have any issues, so I can fix them up). Nothing as sinister as what your suggesting Wink

It is more ergonomic.

Just a suggestion, a button (Continue Shopping) (on the left for example) would be well in the cart.cgi.

Soon a plugin ? Smile

Thanks, the old one was a bit long winded (what with all the address etc stuff, which wasn't really needed, as its only for ordering digital goods, and nothing needs to be shipped)

Maybe :) At the moment, its been pretty much written just for the use on our site , and because the payments are done manually (i.e they make the payment, with a reference ID in it, and then we can look up what that reference ID was for, and process the order - unlike how most other systems work :))

Whoops, forgot to update link.html (only updated detailed.html) Blush

Should be using the right one now :)

I've also just added a side-cart thing (on the green "Client Account" box at the top), which lets you see your cart, as well as a "Checkout" box, which will let you complete the order Smile

Another suggestion.

Why not use a encrypted button ?
It is an additional security.

An example :

Hi,

Doesn't matter too much about encrypting the PayPal button, as we process them manually, so if people start changing the total amount etc, we will be able to work that out from what money was sent, and challenge them as to why they changed the details/price =)

Wasn´t going to buy anything, yet, but did check out the new system.
Found a little text problem....

Added something to cart, clicked ok pay via paypal. It sends me to another page where there is 1 line of text and a paypal button.
The text says "To complete your order, and make your payment via 2Checkout, please click this button:" but the paypal button is the only one shown.
The button is correct, but the text isnt.

my 2 cents.

Thanks for checking it out. Not really sure what you are suggesting? Just had a look at both 2CO and PayPal payments, and they both look ok :/

Well nothing important. It says "to make payment with 2co" and a paypal button is shown.
Not a bug, just working or wrong name... check the image attached.

Re making it available - I was gonna do it yesterday, but didn't get around to it :) As it wasn't ever written for distribution, it'll need quite a bit of tweaks/packaging up [and the boring it, documentation :/]

I'll make a post once its ready though - should be early next week.
