Could someone please tell me what the first line in link.html should be ?

Tried to modify it .. but it got all mixed up :-(

Depending on what type of spacing you want or listing...you could use bullet list codes (< li >< /li >) or paragraph break codes (< p >) or break line codes (< br >).

Remove the spaces around the arrows.
