Obviously I have to find the reference to the tag, 'Details'. But what is a tag, and why would it have an unknown tag when I didn't make any changes to any tags (as far as I know)?

This error message appeared at the top of a new screen after 'Modifying a Site' (pressing the button on the screen).

Remove any references to <%Details%> from the following templates...

modify.html
modify_error.html
modify_success.html

I had the same message (Unkown Tag: Contact Email) for the tag "Contact Email" when submitting a site through my links page (add.cgi). I did edit the templates a little, but the Contact Email tag looks unharmed.
