I've searched this forum, checked and rechecked permissions on all files and dirs, checked and rechecked paths and urls and I'm at a loss to find the error. The script also hasn't built all categories.

What may I try next?

Ok, gang!

I went back to the files and rechecked permissions again. I added the category dirs by hand and set permissions to 777. I then chmoded the nph-build.cgi to 000 and back to 755. I then tried the build all command and got an error on the index.count file. I went to that file and set the permission to 666("The Devil made me do it")(sorry, couldn't resist.)

When I finished with the index.count file I tried the build all command again and it WORKED!!!

Thanks again for a wonderful forum.

Change the permission of the links.db.bak file to 666 and the links.db file to 666.
