Build Error
Hello - I recently installed Links2 and was able to get to the Admin Page. As stated in the readme.txt file I created a catagory and then a link within that catagory, but when I click the build all link I received the following error:

The Document contained no data.
Try again later, or contact the server's administrator.

Can anyone help me?

THanks,

Thanks - Yes the problem is with the nph-build.cgi. I will try the faq and see if the information there can help.

The problem is with your nph-build.cgi file, right? Your server may not allow non parsed headers to execute. There is a FAQ n the Resource Center that explains how to fix this problem.

Re: Build Error In reply to
You have to change the Pages directory to 777 (rwxrwxrwx) and the same for the new, cool, and ratings directories under the Pages directory.

I have "changed the Pages directory to 777 (rwxrwxrwx) and the same for the new, cool, and ratings directories under the Pages directory" and I still receive the same error.

Try changing the index.html file to 777 and also the /links/ directory to 777.

Hmmm...that didn't work either. Do you think deleting the directory and then recreating it would work?

Wouldn't hurt. But it really should not make a difference since all you are doing is overwriting files.

Eliot,

Ok, this is what I've done:

I deinstalled everything and started from scratch. Everything is working including some things that did not before, however I still get the same error message. I've checked the permissions on everything and it all looks fine. Here is the output from my attempted build:

Re: Build Error In reply to
The error is stating that you HAVE NOT changed the permissions appropriately to that directory. Again, change the permissions of the /pages/ directory to 777 (rwxrwxrwx).

Ok, I understand that. However, there is only so many times that I can make sure that the file permissions on /pages directory is 777.

Obviously there is something else wrong. Is there anyone else out there that can try to assist me?

Thanks,

Allyn
p.s. Just a little frustrated....don't take this personally.

Figured it out on my own. THis was what was going on.

/links/pages/ directory should have been /web/links/pages/

Go figure!

Thanks for all your help.

Re: Build Error In reply to
Hi,

I have the same problem when clicking on build all. I get the message:

in Netscape:
The Document contained no data.
Try again later, or contact the server's administrator.

In MSIE:The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your browser settings.

I have read this thread and followed the instructions in FAQ but it doesn't get any better. Have any idea what else could be the problem?

Thanks

Hello!

You have NT hosting.
At links.cfg search string :

# Use IIS headers? Set this to 1 if your web server needs the full headers (HTTP/1.0 etc.)
$db_iis = 0;

change to 1

upload and try to rebuild links.
