Beyond the year 2000 will modifications be needed to the $get_date and $date_to_unix subroutines?

I suppose you'd like an explanation of why not.
The year value that is returned when you use the localtime function is the number of years since 1900. At present, the value that is returned is 99. Next year it will be 100. If you look at the get_date subroutine, you'll see that it adds 1900 to the value, so that this year, the year returned is 1999 and next year it will be 2000.
