I was wondering if there is a way the log fil can log users that do searches. I do a search to one of my databases and it doesn't show which user di a search or ehat they searched for. The only time I see the user in the logs is when they delete, add or change a record.

Is there anyway for the log to track everything that is done by users.

Thanks

compu_tel,

Didn't you read the response to your "Search Log" Topic?!!?? It seems that someone has posted a mod in it.

Check it out:

I read that it and it almost does what I need but I need it to keep track of the users that do the search as well as the search words.

Example:

User default logon: John

John customer searches the cars database for Ford. John has to show his boss a report of who searched under his logon and what they searched for.

This is the best example I could think of to explain this.

Thanks

Do all visitors to your site log-in to your database? If so, this would be a complicated routine to implement. What I am looking for is a way to show fields searched,
NOT keywords.

The keyword.cgi program is nice, however, because it shows frequencies of searched words. What I am working on and hope to have completed in the next week or so is way to show fields searched for. If I come up with a solution, I will post it here.

Each rep is assigned a logon to the databases and they will have a site where they will have their customers search a cars database. So the rep wants to track the searches from their site and they also need to pass this info to their boss

I can visualize what you are trying to accomplish, but it will NOT be that easy. I am just working on a simple tracking system that will show frequencies of search terms from the search form. I am not making the tracking system user specific.

May be when I come up with my mod, JPDeni or others can add on to it to include user specific data.

I most likely something simple to do but I know nothing about programming this program.
JPDeni comes up with these great addon's that
work the first time. I hope JPDeni can help.

Thanks

I answered at least one question like this yesterday. Was it your question that gave an example of a Ford Mustang? I know I wrote it in some response.
