Just when gas prices are shooting up here in Canada, our BC government slaps on and additional 3 or 3.5 cent tax. Doesn't our goverment have good timing?
I think our premiere has been drinking too much gasoline (caught for DUI in Hawaii recently).
Crude is now up in the $36.XX per barrel range. That's up 30% or so since the new year. Several factors there, not all gulf related. The chaos in Venezuela has cut into supply with no short term solution.
Nationally, gas is only about $1.66 per gallon (or roughly .43 cents per liter for Paul ) .
So the answer is a bit of both. Oil is up, so gas prices are up. But beware price gouging. Hopefully your state attorney general is on the case.

Not fair...why does everyone get everything cheaper than us? I may move out to America or Canda just to take advantage of the cheap fuel and other stuff :)
LOL...tempting as the offer is; its just the fact I wouldn't know anyone there At least if I move up to Leeds (north of England)....I have a few mates who i know up there, who are going to University there
