cant add a category in windows nt
I installed links but I havent password protect the admin directory. I am using NT server. When i try to add a category it keeps saying I have no permissions.
Do I need to password protect my admin directory and use the permissions associated with the user?

Uh you need to make sure that your /links/pages directory is set to 777 (rwxrwxrwx):

Owner: read, write, execute
Group: read, write, execute
Everyone: read, write, execute

Also, make sure that your categories.db file is set to 666 (rw-rw-rw-):

Owner: read, write
Group: read, write
Everyone: read, write

If you don't understand how to change permissions via FTP...read your FTP manual. If your hosting company has restricted permissions changing in your Web, then you will have to ask your hosting company to change permissions for you.

BTW: The translation of the Permissions I gave via NT Explorer is the following:

777.....

IWAM/MACHINENAME: Read, Write, Execute
IUSR/MACHINENAME: Read, Write, Execute
Everyone (User): Read, Write, Execute

666.....

IWAM/MACHINENAME: Read, Write
IUSR/MACHINENAME: Read, Write
Everyone (User): Read, Write
