NT install prob, please help clueless newbie :)
First, I know practically nothing about CGI, but I need to get this installed and I need some help...

I modified all the files like it said in the readme (pointed to perl, changed links.cfg). When I go to http://www.paintball.org/cgi-bin/links/admin/admin.cgi however the frameset shows up but there's nothing in them. I'm sure it must be an error with my links.cfg file. My first mistake was to have the pages folder (in the root directory)named 'links' (this is already in the site design, didn't forsee it as a prob Smile so I might have gotten confused or something between the 'links' page folder and the 'links' folder in cgi-bin. I've included my links.cfg folder below so you can have a look.. i hope you can help (notice I didn't point it to the mail server cause I'm gonna' set that up later... if you think you can help mail me and I'll give you the FTP pass)...

In your admin.cgi script, you need to have the follow codes for the links.cfg file:

Code:
require "D:/Websites/paintballorg/cgi-bin/links/admin/links.cfg";

Double check your file permissions. Since you are on NT and if you do not have direct access to the server, then your hosting company has to change the permission of your cgi scripts, database files, and log files.

and to let you know, all the other CGI's (eg: search.cgi) seem to work... it's just the admin one that won't. And I've tried it with IE, Netscape and Opera if that makes any difference Smile

Re: NT install prob, please help clueless newbie :) In reply to
Again...check the permission of the admin.cgi script. And also check the permission of the admin directory/folder. The /admin/ directory should be set to the following:

IWAM/MACHINENAME = Read, Execute
IUSR/MACHINENAME = Read, Execute
Everyone = Read, Execute
Admin = Read, Write, Execute
Account = Read, Write, Execute

A common cause is the path and URL in links.cfg are not reflecting the same directory. I suggest you double check that they are both pointing to the same place.
