FrontPage and authentication
Hi

I have installed Links on a NT server for a client www.retroscreen.com/links/ and it took ages for the server sys admin people to enable write permissions for the web server in order for the script to run.

It's now all working however my client has this problem:

Anyone got any ideas? I don't know a thing about FrontPage Wink

Yes.
It apears this LINKS directory was created as a subvirtual web all its own but FrontPage has a bug and does not know how to authenticate a user name and password, so you need to log into the root web to get in.

I recommend deleting the Links directory and starting over...

Oh, and before I forget, your client NEEDS TO HAVE "Administer,Author,Browse" permitions which should be set by the ISP's webmaster, in IIS.

Your client should be able to run CGI scripts anywhere he/she wants in his/her website if she is a FrontPage client.

Sounds to me like your client is getting ripped off...

What permissions need to be set with Frontpage? just run all scripts for that folder or is it deeper than that.

Thanks.
