Just for the heck of it, I ran "Check Category". I didn't think I had any problems with missing categories so I'd never run it before...and I double checked my categories.db: ALL of my categories exist. And when I click "view" on the categories menu, they show up like they should. I don't have any other problems so what's going on?
Check Category works when you have changed a name of a category or deleted a category that links are listed in. If you have not renamed or deleted categories, then there are no problems.

Well, they are all there. Whenever I make changes to links.db in the category field, I rewrite my categories.db based on that field, adding missing categories and deleting all the duplicates.
I'm giving up on my online copy of the links admin program entirely. I can't build, check categories or links. It's easier to synchonize files and run from my offline copy.
