"missing operating system" message
I have a very old (but working) computer, that had windows 3.1 installed on it. I used a windows 98 startup disk to fdisk the hard drive. That worked fine, but when it restarted, it won't recognize the boot disk so i can format C: and install windows 98. it only shows a black screen, and says "missing operating system". it won't let me get to the BIOS by pressing the delete key, either. How can i deal with this, so i can install windows 98? Thanks.

I am sure that someone will move this thread to the correct forum....

Have you tried using the FDISK utility? That is one thing to get you started.

Nope, it's just that forums have titles and descriptions to keep things organized.
