db referrers!
Someone is submitting around 20-30 of the exact same links to my directory!

It is a crappy money making click through website that is constantly being submitted, and so I decided to add a value to db_referrers to stop them submitting from another URL.

Do I add db_referrers = (audio-grabber.com,www.audio-grabber.com)

or db_referrers = ('audio-grabber.com','www.audio-grabber.com')

Thanks
P.Wilson

The actual codes you should use are:

Code:

@db_referers = ('audio-grabber.com','www.audio-grabber.com');

I would HIGHLY recommend reading the many Threads in the Links 2.0 Customization that discuss spam issues.

There are also some modifications in the Resource Center that reduce spamming of your directory.

Thanks for the tip Eliot, about the mods!

They are submitting site again today! - Who ever "they" are!

It is really annoying me now! . They are all german moneymaking sites!
They musn't realise that all additions are actually moderated before they are added to the directory!

I thought add.cgi prevented duplicate URL addition?

Bye

Again...like I mentioned...read the Spam Threads in the Links 2.0 Customization and Perl/CGI forums...I have posted codes in the past and also other users have posted codes that enhances the security of add.cgi.

I know, I listened to what you were saying and I visited the resource section!

The reason I mentioned who was adding the sites and the fact that it was annoying me, was purely just because it was annoying me, not because I ignored the advice you gave me and was asking for more help!
