installed on hypermart
Has anyone installed "links" on Hypermart.net?

if so, what's the URL?

Would you be willing to install one for?

Thanks in advance,

That sounds really good. Can you do one for me? It'll be for my private us only.

Thanks

I'd sure be interested in knowing how, I tried doing one for someone and couldn't get it to work whatsoever, it kept telling me the files weren't there, when they were. I'd set the permissions, check the dir and they'd still say they were set 744. I'd change them again... same thing.
It was driving me insane and I never did get it working.

Hi,
I've just uploaded one on Hypermart and I got it to work just fine. Now comes the interesting part of customizing it so it looks and works like I want it to.

Check it out at:
http://www.bidderz.com/scs/cgi/links/pages/index.html

If you have any questions or would like me to "attempt" (I cant gaurantee anything) one onto your Hypermart website, feel free to email me at mden19@rconnect.com

Hi,

I have links v2 working on my (beta) site at hypermart..

http://hertsinternet.hypermart.net/

I can't see why you would have any troubles getting the script installed.. I am 101% clueless about CGI, but luckily this script works fine.. Smile

Say if you still need help with it, and I shall see what I can do..

I think this <%db_cgi_url%> is the core of my problems. My scripts are not located, therefore not run.

http://myusername.hypermart.net/links/cgi-bin/admin/templates/<%db_cgi_url%>/search.cgi

The $db_cgi_url shoud point to the cgi-bin directory that has your link scripts in it. Go into the links.cfg file and set it to something like this (depending on what the actual URL is):

http://yourname.hypermart.net/links/cgi-bin

The links.cfg file is the only file that needs to be edited to get the script up and running.

Heres what the first part of my links.cfg looks like (I also use hypermart):

# Paths and URL's to Important Stuff
# --------------------------------------------------------
# PATH and URL of Admin CGI directory. No Trailing Slash.
$db_script_path = "/data1/hypermart.net/bidderz/scs/cgi/links/cgi-bin/admin";
$db_dir_url = "http://www.bidderz.com/scs/cgi/links/cgi-bin/admin";

# URL of User CGI directory. No Trailing Slash.
$db_cgi_url = "http://www.bidderz.com/scs/cgi/links/cgi-bin";

# PATH and URL of Pages to be built. No Trailing Slash.
$build_root_path = "/data1/hypermart.net/bidderz/scs/cgi/links/pages";
$build_root_url = "http://www.bidderz.com/scs/cgi/links/pages";

Hopfully this helps you some

We can't use Links on Hypermart. This is violation of TOS.
------
HyperMart prohibits all scripts that automatically update a links listing and are submitted to by automated programs, either by design or by use. Use of these scripts is grounds for termination of your HyperMart account without any prior notice.

Hi..

--
automatically update a links listing --

well, firstly links doesn't "automatically update a links listing" - you have to go to the admin script and click the build link to get it to update.. yes, you could do it via cron tab, but telnet access isn't available on hypermart..

secondly, hypermarts TOS goes on to say "and are submitted to by automated programs" I think the AND is a major importance here... that means that it has to both automatically update AND be submitted to by automatic programs!? - also, linksv2 has the refferer check in it, which should prevent auto submission quite a bit.

I asked this same question to support but the aswer was:
No, you just can't have any
kinds of FFA scripts within your account, it's against our TOS. It
doesn't matter it's automated or not.

Very bad for us who have an account at Hypermart.
