links2 cpu-time & space
Hello!

I've found a provider which restricts cgi-scripts.

Does anyone know how many cpu processing seconds links2 need to process? and how many MB needs the whole links2 db with all the files & sripts.

Uh...this varies since LINKS 2.0 is a modular script that contains separate scripts. So, I can't really tell you off-hand what would be the combined percentage use (also depends on your site's traffic and server RAM).

The default size of Links that includes the .cgi scripts, lib files, and templates is 500K. In terms of the pages that are built...that varies depending on the following factors:

1) # of categories
2) # of modifications you add
3) # of links

I think that I have seen ranges between 20 MGs and 60 MGs.

My directory is 20 MGs with the following elements:

1) 2,409 Links
2) 396 Categories
3) 40 Mods installed

We have a database with more than 10000 links and the daily build takes around 600 seconds.

Hello & Merhaba alisoylu!

thanx for your answer!
oops very long time!

and can you guess how long it takes cpu-processing time on the server-machine, when the internet users are searching for links etc.

Actually searching the database is really fast, building takes a long time because it has to construct the ~300 html pages. If you're more concerned about speed, I suggest you try Links SQL.

You can check searching at our website: http://www.nerede.com

We're using interland, but we'll move to our own server.

The build time for the specifications I provided takes less than 60 seconds. Search ranges from 2 -10 wallclock secs depending on the traffic and also the keywords inputed.

If you are concerned about administrative and end-user time frames for accessing your Links databases, I would recommend upgrading to Links SQL.

what are wallclock secs,

upgrading?
maybe later!

I need only the average time the cpu is working to process the cgi/perl files for adding/modifiying or searchin an link, not the time for showing the html-pages!

Benchmark.pm and the calculations I gave above shows processing time!

Regards,

You will have to modify the Benchmark.pm module.
