admin dir protection

Hello,

Is there a way to protect the admin directory if my web hosting company can't password protect any directory with the word admin in it? I have tried like 3 password protection scripts and I get a 500 error each time I try to run the scripts. Does anyone have a good script that worked for them? Also is there a script that is especially for links that does this, I remember reading something in the forum by BmXer.

Yes...Bmxer is working on an ADMIN MOD that is integrated with Links 2.0 and DBMAN 2.04...but you should peruse using .htaccess/.htpasswd feature in your site first.

Yeah, my script will password protect the cgi files in the admin, but the data folder and the other files in the admin folder will probably need .htaccess like Anthrorules has said.
