What's Cool: top ten?

What's Cool: top ten?
Hi;
I set the what's cool page to list top ten instead of top 0.03% and thought this would list top ten links with most hits.

I think I've misunderstood this though!

Today, my "top ten" has 17 links in it!

Could someone explain what this setting lists?

Thanks!

Here's line from links.cfg re Popular...didn't see anything similar on Cool

# Setting for popular cutoff, can either be a percent (i.e. top 3%), or # a fixed value (i.e. top 10). Enter 0.03 or 10 respectively.
$db_popular_cutoff = 0.03; # Top 3%

This was covered once before--as I recall, in the event of a tie the script will print both links. For example, if 10 hits makes a site number one, and 5 sites have 10 hits, all 5 will show up in the "top ten" list PLUS the number 2 through 9 links (and any sites that tie for those rankings) will show up.

This may be more pronounced early on when none of the sites have a lot of hits, but you will always have this problem unless the script is changed.

Thanks Brad; in my case yes this is early days so I guess it is more noticable.

I think now you have explained I will just change to 0.03%.

That threw me off a bit at first, too. "Popular" and "Cool" are actually the same thing. It might be nice if a future release either stated this somewhere or dropped one of the terms. I think this would clear up one area of new user confusion. Wink
