Dreamlinks.net rejects Gossamer Threads?
I was shocked to find that a hosting service I was about to switch to does not allow Gossamer Threads. Here is what they say:

2.Due to the consumption of system resources and overloading of the e-mail server, dreamlink.Net forbids the use of the Gossamer Links program by any client.

My current hosting service has never complained. With Links2 out, someone needs to talk to them.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. If they don't allow Links, most likely they will be too restrictive in other areas... If you are serious about installing and utilizing scripts (as most Links users are), you will want a host that provides you a good deal of flexibility.

Not very surprising to say the least. LINKS does take up a lot of server resources if you multiply the use by multiple clients in one server.

And Dan is absolutely correct, you need to find a hosting company that is flexible and does not put heavy restrictions on server use.

There are others that do not allow it either, for example CommuniTech.net.

As long as you realize that your site may suffer from other clients' misuse of system resources.

I read that some users have set up cron jobs the rebuild their links pages on the hour. You get a half dozen of them on the server with you and few of your visitors will wait for any of your CGI scripts to finish before leaving or trying to reload the page.
