Building new Categories & Links
I am unable to build directories & index pages of new category. When I run Build pages, the program does make the main index page but nothing else.

PLEASE HELP !

Thanks in advance.

When asking for help, it isn't enough to just paraphrase the problem. We need details!

Are there error messages? If so, cut and paste them here. Where do these errors occur? Which version of Links are you running? Do you have a URL available where we can see the problem or, if not, can you set up a .txt file where we can look at your configuration? If you are using v2.0, are you using templates or not?

It is hard to help when we have nothing to go on.

Oh! I am sorry for not including the details.

I have set up the links 1.11 and I request you to go and see how its working right now at

http://www.ahmedabad.com/guj

Admin is at
http://www.ahmedabad.com/guj/admin

Please try adding New categories and links and you shall see the problem while building pages.

I hope you shall be able to get hold of the problem. As I have said earlier, the LINKS is unable to creat new directory and pages accept the Main Index page.

Thank you very much for your time & support.

I went to your site and added a new subcategory called Government/Other. Then I attempted to rebuild the pages. It got an error that said:

Quote:
Building What's New Page . . .
CGI Error: No such file or directory
Message: invalid directory name: /home/ahdsite/ahmedabad.com/guj/New. Reason: contains illegal characters.

You are using a path where one of the elements contains a period (ahmedabad.com) which, in the default configuration, is an illegal character in a path.

To fix this, go to http://www.gossamer-threads.com/...oduct=Links&ww=1 and read about how to change things so that it will accept the period.

I hope this helps.

THANK YOU so much...
You really helped me out to solve this small mistake I made...

Just a Dot here and there and the program started buzzing.

Once again
Thank you very much.
