Problem with amazon urls
I've added some links to amazon products in a links2 script I have installed - it has some modifications icluding the auto deadlink reporting mod, the script itself is proven and fully working but when I click any of the links to amazon product pages they fail. I get the url not available page instead. I've tested the amazon links in a browser and they work fine, they just seem to fail when called from jump.cgi, all the rest of the links in the db work perfectly.

Heres an example of 1 of the links :

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0761537627/eternalredemp-21

Anyone able to give me a clue whats wrong?

Thanks.

Don't know if this will help, but I've implemented a new sub-section in one of my directories that utilizes Amazon links:

http://vlib.anthrotech.com/Publications/Bookstore/

Of course, the difference is that I open pages in frames, but in terms of the linking, it should be the same...use the "Close Rate Frame" link in the framed book pages to see the URL I am using...

Or look in the Bookstore section linked above and you'll see the link that I use in my database.

Buh Bye!

Cheers,
Me

Hi.

You appear to be linking to your booklist? That appears to work fine, I'm direct linking to a particular product using affiliate ID, just dont understand why it isnt working??

I am also targeting links in a frame.

I've experimented a bit more, it definitely seems to be a problem direct linking to amazon products using an affiliate ID.

Example : www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004UA0O/eternalredemp-21

This works fine but when targetted from my jump.cgi as follows it fails,

http://www.eternalredemption.com/cgi-bin/677/

(I am using mod rewrite for SE friendly URL's).

Confusing.
