Note to NEWBIES: EDIT YOUR TEMPLATE FILES!
Dear Newbies to Links 2.0,

I would like to remind you that you should EDIT the default template files THOROUGHLY and also the links.cfg file before adding "live" data into your database. Yes, test your scripts thoroughly as well.

While I appreciate my site being added to one of your directories, I have no clue where my link has been added since you have NOT edited the email-add.txt file and all the default info is in there.

Just a friendly reminder.

Regards,

Eliot Lee

Yes, its the same with many mods I provided. PLEASE change the e-mail that is listed as the webmaster to your e-mail address. It gets extremly annoying when I get loads of e-mails from people who use my mods, and then a day or so later e-mail me and ask why they arn't getting the e-mails! Think obviouse, we try and make these mods as easy for you to install as possible Cool

Also put a comment before the email address telling them to be sure to change it... I noticed you didn't have a comment in there.. That will help.

that's not the point. it just takes a little common sense. or DO we need to hold your hand while you pee?

Nearly all users have sense enough to change the default paths and urls in links.cfg. But then 2 or 3 months down the road ask how to change (for example) the number of links per page. If they had simply LOOKED through the ENTIRE file to begin with, there'd be no need for this kind of discussion.

Yes, I agree with Drew.

The original point of this Thread, which I will re-iterate...Links 2.0 users (and all web software users for that matter) need to edit configuration files, template files, and thoroughly test scripts before adding "live" data.

Just a friendly reminder.

(BTW: I did contact the Link 2.0 user who added my site and the person never responded...also, this is not the first time this has happened, so I thought I would bring the issue to this forum.)
